Phototomia – The Leuphana Revelation

In the ancient geography of Lüneburg, the name “Leuphana” signifies a “Revelation of White.” It is a linguistic ghost of the region’s “White Gold” - the crystalline salt that built the city's foundation.

In this series, the Daniel Libeskind-designed central building is stripped of its academic context and re-examined through the lens of Phototomia (Light-Cutting). By isolating the structure against a vacuum of deep shadows, the architecture is returned to its elemental state: a crystalline, lunar monument emerging from the dark.

This is not a study of a building, but a dissection of the light that reveals it.
